When Shirley Grahl learned that Sharon LaMottes' Great Grandfather, Francis Philip LaMotta, an immigrant from Messina, Sicily worked in Manhattan building Knabe pianos for his entire career from 1880-1937 she offered to donate her family's Knabe piano to the Jazz Composers Forum. Shirley and her late husband, Darwin were jazz fans and she felt the piano would continue to give pleasure to the audiences that attend Jazz Composers Forum events .
first set- Sharon LaMotte will sing material from the American Standard Songbook
second set- Composers-in-residence perform all original music including a new work dedicated to Shirley Grahl in memory of Darwin Grahl
